- Nixon Peabody ranked as the third largest bond counsel for the first half of 2010, with 32 issues worth $8.9 billion between January–June 2010.
- Chambers and Partners, publishers of guides to law firms, has ranked international law firm Nixon Peabody LLP highly in the 2010 edition of Chambers USA: America’ Leading Lawyers for Business. Nixon Peabody has been named a leader in 17 practice areas, and is recognized as a national leader in the following practice groups: Insurance: Insurers Firms; Franchising; Food & Beverages/Alcohol and Sports Law. - For the first quarter of 2010, Thomson Reuters ranked Nixon Peabody’s Public Finance Group as the fourth most active bond counsel in the nation, with 9 transactions totaling $4.0 billion, and the eighth most active underwriter’s counsel in the nation, with 10 transactions totaling $2.1 billion.
- Ranked 2nd nationally by the 2010 Dow Jones Private Equity Analyst Rankings for the number of private equity and venture capital funds that had a final close in 2009 (310) and 15th for the number of private equity and venture capital deals negotiated and closed that year (169).
- Recognized by Managing IP magazine’s World IP Survey as a national leader in Intellectual Property counsel for the biotech and life sciences industries. Firms earning recognition are evaluated by their peers on the strength of their expertise and the depth of their ability to service clients.
- Recognized in March 2010 by the French legal press with the Silver Award for the best “International Firm” in France for 2009. - Recognized by Project Finance Magazine (March 2010) for role in North American Single Asset Power Deal of the year 2009 awarded to Astoria Energy II LLC (“Astoria Energy II”). $1B project financing was secured by Astoria II, a limited liability company created to develop, construct, own and operate a new natural gas-fired power plant in Astoria, Queens Borough, New York City. Nixon Peabody LLP represented Energy Investors Funds in connection with the financing and closing of an investment in Astoria II through its United States Power Fund III, LP (“USPF III”). - The Bond Buyer recognized the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) as 2009 Deal of the Year. The deal was recognized for its creativity in capturing the revenue generated by an existing toll highway and using it to pay for an expansion of transit during a tough economy when funding for such projects is becoming increasingly harder to identify. Honorees were cited by the publication’s editors for their innovation, risk taking and the ability for a deal to serve as a model for other financings.
