Nixon Peabody Attorney Paul Griffin Honored With "Friend Of Children" Award by Justice for ChildrenWashington, DC. International law firm Nixon Peabody LLP is pleased to announce that Washington, DC, associate Paul Griffin has been awarded the 2008 “Friend of Children” award by the Justice for Children’s Washington DC Chapter (JFC-DC). The organization recognized Griffin for his six years of pro bono legal work on behalf of abused and neglected children, which has included hundreds of hours helping Maryland children gain legal protection. 12/22/2008 “I am honored to accept this award and want to thank all the volunteers at Justice for Children, who fight every day to protect the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Mr. Griffin. “Justice for Children’s volunteer attorneys provide free legal support for the children hurt by the systemic failures of child protection agencies and family courts.” Congressman Steny H. Hoyer, Majority Leader of the United States House of Representatives and who presented the award, said of Mr. Griffin and JFC co-founder Randy Burton, “We need more advocates for children who are willing and able to act as a voice for children in court.” Congressman Hoyer went on to say, “Unfortunately, we know that too often justice does not roll down in a mighty stream for children. There should be justice for all—but we must work especially hard to ensure justice that protects our children and the most vulnerable among us.” Mr. Griffin is a member of the firm’s business litigation group and focuses his practice on commercial litigation. Mr. Griffin served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1985–1989, and completed tours as a member of a surveillance and target acquisition platoon and the Presidential Honor Guard. He is a graduate of Georgetown University and Georgetown University Law Center.
